The Karate Kid (Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray)

Newly arrived in California from New Jersey, teenager Daniel (Ralph Macchio) almost immediately runs afoul of karate-trained high school bullies. He is rescued by Japanese janitor Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita), who agrees to teach Daniel how to harness karate for good instead of brutality.

My Name is Julia Ross (Blu-ray)

My Name Is Julia Ross is the first film noir made by Joseph H. Lewis. Though made on a low-budget, the film contains a nice brooding atmosphere and some innovative camera work to tell the tightly woven story of Julia Ross, an unemployed woman who in desperation takes a job as the personal secretary to a socially prominent matron.

Night on Earth: Criterion Collection (Blu-ray)

In this strangely compelling film, five entirely different cab rides in five locations around the world are shown unfolding simultaneously. Each ride is fraught with high drama; in one, an effusive Roman driver Roberto Benigni insists on confessing all his sexual encounters, including one with a sheep, to an extremely unwilling priest who inconveniently dies in his cab before his lengthy confession can be completed.

Cleopatra Jones (Blu-ray)

Tamara Dobson stars as Cleopatra Jones in Jack Starrett's blaxploitation programmer that, in its own way, deals effectively with the ravages of drugs in inner-city black communities. Cleopatra Jones is a jive female James Bond, a special drug agent for the United States government who wears sleek and hip clothes, drives a fancy car with a submachine-gun compartment in the front door, and travels all over the world to stomp out drugs at their source.

The Big Fix (Blu-ray)

Richard Dreyfuss plays Moses Wine, an ex-Sixties radical who pays the bills as a private eye. Wine is hired to stem a smear campaign against a popular political candidate. Gradually the plot thickens into a murder case, involving a hippie leader whose values, like Wine's, have been severely compromised over the years - and who plans to blow up a major LA freeway as a protest.
